Baked Rose Donuts

The prettiest way to brighten a cold February morning.

February always feels like the heart of winter. The excitement of the holidays has faded, the days are still short, and the cold seems to linger a little longer than we’d like. But if there’s one thing that makes these cozy, slow mornings feel extra special, it’s baking something beautiful from scratch.

And truly — there is no better way to start your morning than homemade donuts.

Not the kind you grab in a rush. Not the kind in a paper bag on the go. I’m talking about soft, tender, lightly floral donuts that fill your kitchen with the most delicate rose aroma while the oven warms the house. These Baked Rose Donuts with Pink Dragon Fruit Glaze are romantic, soft, and just the right amount of fancy — but secretly so simple to make.

The dried rose petals give them the most subtle floral note (nothing overpowering — just enough to feel special), and the glaze? That dreamy pink color comes naturally from pink dragon fruit powder. No artificial dyes, just vibrant dragon fruit magic.

I use Nature Restores Pink Dragon Fruit Powder, which gives the glaze the most stunning blush tone. You can shop it here and be sure to use my link GABIB20 for money off your order:

It’s the kind of pink that feels perfect for February — soft, cozy, romantic, and bright enough to chase away the winter gray.

Whether you’re making these for Valentine’s season, a Galentine’s brunch, or just because you deserve something beautiful with your coffee, these donuts make an ordinary morning feel like an occasion.

There’s something about baking in February that feels extra comforting. Maybe it’s the contrast of a warm oven against cold windows. Maybe it’s the soft pink glaze against a gray winter sky. Or maybe it’s just the simple joy of slowing down and making something beautiful.

Whatever the reason, these rose donuts bring warmth, color, and a little bit of romance to even the chilliest mornings.

And honestly? Winter mornings deserve that.

Ingredients

For the Donuts:

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 6 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon dried rose petals
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1½ tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
  • 7 tablespoons milk
  • ¾ to 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon rose water (The one I use is pictured below)
  • 1½ tablespoons melted butter

For the Pink Pitaya Glaze:

  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ¼ teaspoon rose water (Pictured below)
  • 1 teaspoon pink dragon fruit powder (I use Nature Restores. Linked above)

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Prepare your donut pan by brushing butter inside each donut cavity to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, powdered sugar, dried rose petals, baking powder, and baking soda. Whisk until evenly combined.
  3. Mix the wet ingredients.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the apple cider vinegar, Greek yogurt, milk, vanilla extract, rose water, and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Combine.
Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients and mix until a smooth batter forms. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Fill the donut pan.
Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut cavities, filling each about two-thirds full.
Do not overfill — otherwise the donuts may overflow and lose their shape on one side.
  6. Bake.
Bake for 15–16 minutes, or until the tops spring back lightly when touched.
  7. Cool completely.
Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. They must be completely cool before glazing.

Make the Pink Dragon Fruit Glaze

In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, rose water, and pink dragon fruit powder until smooth. Adjust with a tiny splash more milk if needed to reach your preferred consistency.

Dip the tops of each cooled donut into the glaze or spoon it over the top. Allow the glaze to set before serving.

The result? Soft, floral donuts with a naturally vibrant pink finish that look almost too pretty to eat.

Almost.

Bake Ahead & Storage

Bake Ahead

You can bake the donuts one day in advance and store them unglazed in an airtight container at room temperature. Glaze them the next morning for the freshest appearance and texture.

You can also prepare the glaze ahead and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Let it come to room temperature and whisk before using.

Storage

  • Store glazed donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
  • For longer storage, keep them in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Let them come to room temperature before serving for best texture.
  • These donuts are best enjoyed fresh, but they remain soft thanks to the yogurt and butter in the batter.
